Have you ever had the feeling that staring at a star-studded sky will solve all of your problems? I do, without a doubt. The universe is full of wonders, and mankind has been progressing at a breakneck pace, just fast enough to clasp the observable universe in its arms, don’t you think?

There was a time when people believed the earth was flat, when technology was so lacking that we continued to make assumptions about the unknown, when scientists were eager to learn more about outer space, they had no choice but to study it from afar. Now, on the other hand, things have changed. Humanity has progressed beyond examining planets and is now embarking on a search for other civilizations!

Space technology is far from brilliant. It is capable of not only exploring space but also defending our planet from any threats. What are the dangers we’re talking about? It’s a scary world out there, and we’re especially susceptible because our planet is the only one blooming with life. Who knows what lurks in the shadows? Although we feel our technology is incredibly sophisticated, advanced civilizations may be watching every move we make.

So, can we truly advance our technology to the point that we’ll be able to claim our position in the universe? Is it true that we’re all alone in the universe? No, to put it bluntly. These hypotheses not only create further questions but also raise concerns about humanity’s advancement.

Theories, aliens, spacecraft, visiting strange and new planets have always fascinated children. I know I was when I was a kid. So how do we really get them interested? Here are a few things you can do:

1. Projects

Don’t kids enjoy projects? Begin by building miniature solar system models, planet models, and satellite models to pique their curiosity and inspire children to ask questions like “what if?”, “how?”, “why not?” and “why?”. Want to get started right away? Here are a few links:

2. Observation

Sometimes the easiest way to unwind is to look up into the night sky. Kids can learn about constellations, nebulas, and a lot more by looking at a star-studded sky. Using a telescope, kids may broaden their understanding.

3. Educational videos

Videos about space can be pretty interesting and scary at the same time. Kids can watch educational space videos to expand their knowledge about space and how space technology works.

4. Google Earth

This digital globe is a fantastic tool for teaching kids about satellites and how they might be used. I recall spending hours digitally traveling to various locations and viewing the globe from various perspectives. It not only assists you in comprehending the significance of satellites, but it also assists you in broadening your understanding of the world.

We live on the spaceship Earth, we call home. Space technology assists us in understanding our mothership, the universe. Climate change, peace and security, and energy challenges are all areas where space technologies might benefit.

Space exploration is also becoming more international. More countries are now within reach of space than ever before, it has been a huge success! So let us hope that we can continue to advance our technology in every way we can.

At SCC, we keep kids engaged in STEM activities like the above-mentioned ones.  Learn the basics and foundations necessary to expand the creativity of the next generation!
