Adakah AI sesuatu yang perlu kita takuti?
Recently, artificial intelligence and machine learning have become hotly debated subjects. There’s no denying that artificial intelligence has made our jobs easier, eased the strain on healthcare facilities, politics, and, most importantly, education.
However, in the wrong hands, AI might be just as destructive as we fear. In fact, Elon Musk himself has stated, “The pace of progress in artificial intelligence (I’m not referring to narrow AI) is incredibly fast. Unless you have direct exposure to groups like Deepmind, you have no idea how fast—it is growing at a pace close to exponential. The risk of something seriously dangerous happening is in the five-year time frame. 10 years at most.”
Here are a few reasons why we fear AI: –
1.AI in the wrong hands: The systems we have now are incomparable to the level of development humanity will achieve in the future. And there’s little question that if AI ended up in the wrong hands, it might have disastrous repercussions
2.Superintelligence: We all fear the day when artificial intelligence surpasses human intellect. What if we end up giving AI a mind of its own? Isn’t it obvious that it would seek to wipe off the entire human race and start its very own AI generation? Experts in artificial intelligence estimated that “human-level machine intelligence,” or HLMI, has a 50% probability of emerging within 45 years and a 10% chance of occurring within 9 years.
3.Unemployment: While AI makes our jobs easier, it also eliminates thousands of jobs every year, causing unemployment rates to skyrocket. It is predicted that by the mid-2030s, up to 30% of jobs could be automated. CBS News reports machines could replace 40% of the world’s workers within 15 to 25 years!
Is it because we’re terrified of being replaced by computers that we’re afraid of it in the first place? Well, in a nutshell, yes! We’ve been under constant threat of being replaced by computers because they can do a better job at everything than we can.
We’ve previously seen an example of a wave of automation like this. AI is replacing people in a variety of ways, including automatic automobiles, receptionists, pilots, data entry and so much more.
AI is like the great unknown, the more we know about it, the more we realize how little we know about it.
However, nothing is certain yet. Artificial intelligence is just too integrated into our daily lives to be cut off at this point. We can’t envision a future without artificial intelligence, can we?
