How to Make Your First Roblox Game

Roblox is more than just a game platform where you may play a range of different games. It allows you to make fantasy games for PC, Xbox, and mobile devices. Roblox allows you to build and play a wide range of games, including platformers, racing, and role-playing games, using the simple yet powerful Lua scripting language. Roblox is a wonderful place to learn how to develop video games because of its diverse toolkit.

Creating and Starting:

1. Open Roblox Studio, which is available for free. You may either go to Roblox.com and select Create, or you can download Roblox Studio to your computer.

2. Select All Templates > Line Runner from the drop-down menu.

3. Locate the Line Runner template and open it. You’ve made your very first game!

4. To begin the game, click the Play icon or hit F5 on your keyboard.

5. In the game, your avatar shows alongside the sentence “Press Space to Start.” If you do so, your avatar will run across the screen.

6. To hop over enemies and obstacles, use Space.

7. If you die, your score, as well as the number of coins you collected and your progression level, appear on the screen.

Customization:

1. To return to Roblox Studio’s main screen, click Stop.

2. On the right-hand side, look for the Explorer window. It shows the file hierarchy.

3. Go to Workspace, which is where you can change the game’s world. If it doesn’t show up in Workspace, it won’t show up in the live game.

4. Select any grassy spot using your mouse. The grass will be surrounded by a blue box, indicating that it is ready for change.

5. Just underneath the Material heading, click the drop-down option. Choose “Grass” and “Bright Green” as your color scheme.

6. Change the Material and Color of a soil patch to “Slate” and “Reddish Brown.”

7. Hold the CTRL key and click each component you want to edit to customize numerous grass or dirt regions at once. Always remember that you can undo changes by hitting CTRL + Z.

8. Navigate to Lighting to alter the game world from day to night.

9. Scroll down to Clock Time in the Properties panel. Change the number to 20, which corresponds to 8 p.m. It gives the gaming environment a gloomy, ominous appearance.

10. Finally, add the Start section to your game and adjust it to match the rest of your scene. This is the first platform you’ll see when you start the game, and it’s not visible from the Workspace. Go to ReplicatedStorage > PathModules > StartModule to discover it.

11. Select Start from the StartModule folder and drag it into Workspace.

12. Inside the Start are two editable Walkway files. The one on top depicts grass, while the one on the bottom indicates dirt. Make your adjustments.

13. Make a return Once you’ve finished altering it, return it to its original spot.

14. To put your game to the test, press F5.

Publishing:

1. Select File > Publish to Roblox from the File menu.

2. Create a catchy title and description for your game.

3. Your game will be available on PC, smartphone, and tablet by default. If you want it to be accessible on Xbox as well, check the Console option. Roblox isn’t accessible for PlayStation or Nintendo Switch.

4. Press the Create button.

5. The game has been released, but only you have access to it. To change the game permissions from Private to Public, go to File > Game Settings.

6. That’s all there is to it! You’ve finished and released your first game. You may always go back and try out different Roblox Studio templates to try out new things.
